We established our Center in 1995, following in the footsteps of Dr. Aaron Beck, the founder of cognitive therapy, and others, and our name reflects the origins of the Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT) approach to psychological treatment. CBT has always been evidence based, meaning it is solidly grounded in research. CBT was founded on the recognition of the interplay between our thoughts, behaviors, emotions and physical sensations, with direct interventions aimed at developing more helpful responses to problems in these domains. CBT treatments have been developed and studied to treat a multitude of different problems.
Evidence-based treatments have grown over the years, and many of them are now considered part of the greater CBT umbrella. As treatments develop, change, and expand, we take pride in staying current in advances in the field so that we can offer the most state-of-the-art treatment to our clients. Most importantly, we’ve always taken an individualized approach to treating each person as a whole person, accounting for their histories and strengths as well as their presenting symptoms and problems.
