Dr. Monique Thompson is a licensed clinical psychologist and Assistant Professor at the University of California, Berkeley. She is a partner at the San Francisco Bay Area Center for Cognitive Therapy. She specializes in treating depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, Adult ADHD, challenging life transitions and managing chronic illness. She emphasizes a collaborative approach that integrates the individual’s unique experiences and goals with evidence based approaches to achieving lasting change and relief.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Thompson supervises graduate students and offers consultation to colleagues. She conducts workshops and trainings for professionals and companies. Dr. Thompson consults with and creates content for mental health startups and organizations developing technology-based therapeutic tools. She has created app-based interactive content for depression, anxiety, insomnia and life stress targeting company employees and university students.
Dr. Thompson received a master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology. She is a certified cognitive therapist and a Diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. She has extensive training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I). She was a staff psychologist at Golden Bear Mood and Sleep Research Center at UC Berkeley working on clinical trials to explore and enhance cognitive therapy techniques and treatments for depression and insomnia.
